Our Trip to Nauvoo

So we decided to stay for Stu's reception and got a hotel down in St. Louis for another night. Then the next day I was able to convince Jacob to drive us to Nauvoo. I have never been there and wanted to see the town. We were only there for a couple of hours, but I had a fun time seeing the different historical sites. Jacob and I are planning on going back there once our kids are older so we can actually enjoy touring everything there.

Poor Natalie. We were trying to get Natalie to come and take a family picture, but then she got hurt and I had to hold her...

Us in front of the temple... without Eveie. She was in the stroller and we didn't feel like getting her out =)

What silly girls we have.

Pictures of the Nauvoo Temple that I took. The first picture is my favorite. Jacob said that when he went with his dad to Nauvoo he got to go all the up to the top of the temple (the little space above the clock!).

Jacob pointed out to me that on the bottom of the columns there were carvings of the moon! Isn't that cool?

We walked around the town and tired the girls out! We got to see where Joseph Smith was buried, the red brick store, and got to see Joseph's Mansion. It was pretty awesome.

St. Louis Trip

Jacob's cousin, Stuart, got married on July 15 at the St. Louis temple and we were able to make it for the wedding! There was someone to watch all the kids so Jacob and I could go in the temple together to see Stu get married! It was a great experience for me. It was the first sealing I got to witness other than my own. You could definitely feel the spirit during the ceremony.

The couple looked right at me when I was trying to take a candid picture of them... and the photographer walked right through the picture... oh well. What a cute couple =). We are so happy for you two!

We were all color coordinated that day =). I made flower clips for the older girls and a dress for myself using the same fabric. It matched perfectly with the girls' dresses (the dresses were a gift from my ballet teacher). Then I made a skirt for Eveie and a flower headband to match us. They were so cute! I love having three girls!

I made Eveie's skirt using the pattern from homemade by jill and made a fabric flower to cover up the print on the onesie, and finished it off with a cute fabric flower headband. Everything turned out great and it matched everyone else =).

4th of July Ice Cream Cake

Here is the ice cream cake I made to celebrate Independence Day. I made one layer "red" (looks more like pink) and then had a layer of vanilla ice cream, then one layer of "blue" (that turned out more greenish blue). Jacob said that it looked more like the Mexican flag. Oh well. It was delicious though.

Ice Cream Sandwich

Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich
This reminds me of our BYU days when Jacob would take me to get a cookie ice cream sandwich after class at BYU. This was made using the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies cookie recipe from allrecipes.com and filled with vanilla ice cream and rolled in sprinkles. YUM. Can't wait to eat another one tomorrow.

Ice Cream Cupcakes

Here are the ice cream cupcakes I made for Father's Day. It's a chocolate cupcake liner, a brownie inside topped with some mint chocolate chip ice cream, then frosted with buttercream frosting with some sprinkles.
I coated some silicone cupcake liners with some melted chocolate (1 c. chocolate chips with 1 T shortening). Then put them in the freezer to harden. Once harden, peel back the silicone and you'll have a chocolate cupcake liner. I used about 15 cupcake liners.
Then I baked some brownies in a mini muffin pan and cool them, and then popped them into each of the chocolate liners. Put everything in the freezer. Then top it with your favorite ice cream and buttercream frosting and freeze.
I thought that brownies sounded good, but I think I'll just stick with cake instead of brownies because the brownies were really hard to eat once frozen.
It was so easy to make! You must try it! =)

Father's Day

We celebrated father's day a little early because Jacob was on call for the weekend. We took Jacob out to eat at Mary's Market and then to Cold Stone Creamery! YUM! The girls each drew a card for Jacob and hid it under his pillow so they could "surprise" him! They love surprising their Baba. I was able to find a cover that actually fit Jacob's 1st generation ipod touch to give to him for father's day. On Saturday Jacob really wanted to make some Mexican food, so of course I let him cook =). It was delicious. Chicken, beans, and rice with some homemade salsa. I also got our friend to babysit Saturday night so I could take Jacob to eat some Red Mango and to go see The Green Lantern. We had a lot of fun. On Sunday Jacob was lucky enough to be able to attend church with us and was able to come home for dinner. I made Chinese food and some ice cream cupcakes for dessert.
Here are some pictures of us at Cold Stone.
